Department purchases new CO monitor. The new easy to use monitor is presently carried on Rescue 7 and will respond to all CO related emergencies.

Alerts Build New Station. HFD's Alert Hook and Ladder Company No. 2 are nearing completion of their new two bay apparatus garage which has been added to the lower level of their present structure. The present street level garage may be incorporated into the present commercial rental space on that level.

Hose Company No 1 Orders New Apparatus. HFD's Hose Company No 1. has ordered a new American La France to replace their present 15 year old Sutphen. The new apparatus incorporates all the features needed for HFD to continue to provide the highest level of fire protection in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Cost of the new 2000 gpm engine which will carry 800 gallons of water is in excess of $300,000.000.

Protection Engine Co. To Celebrate 150 Years. In 2003, Protection Engine Co. No. 3, the oldest continuoulsly operating fire company in Northeastern Pennsylvania will celebrate 150 years of service to the region. A special celebration us being planned.
